The Vitality Habits Handbook, large-print edition, by Vivian R. Dahl

From the opening pages

“You may not get the final say over how long your life is. But you have far more say than you think over how good these years feel.”

You already know the big answers.

Move a little. Eat well. Keep your people close. You have heard it a hundred times. What nobody ever hands you is the plain, doable plan for actually living it, day after day, without turning your life upside down.

Maybe you have felt it lately, that quiet worry about staying sharp, keeping your strength, staying in your own home on your own terms. This handbook meets that worry gently, with small habits you can start today. It is never too late, and you do not have to do it all at once.

Vivian at her kitchen table

Meet Vivian

The women I grew up around stayed sharp into their nineties. Nobody wrote down how. So I did.

I grew up on a farm outside Coon Rapids, Iowa, and I spent my life watching who stayed vital and who faded. This is the whole of what I learned, set down plainly, one small habit at a time. My keeping book.

I am not a doctor, and I do not sell supplements or miracles. This is a lifetime of plain watching, told straight.

If you have seen my Vitality with Vivian channel on YouTube, this handbook is the whole of it in one place — the habits, in order, written down to keep.

You stay sharp now, and I will keep the tea warm.

For you, or for a parent you love — checkout has a "give as a gift" option that sends it straight to them.

Large, easy print

High-contrast type made for older eyes, with generous spacing. No squinting.

One habit at a time

Short chapters, small steps. Nothing here is hard, and that is on purpose.

Warm, never preachy

A grandmother's plain talk across the kitchen table, not a lecture from a clinic.

Plain talk

The honest version, before you buy

No book should promise you miracles, and this one does not. Here is exactly where it stands.

  • It will not replace your doctor. Nothing in it argues with medical advice. It sits beside your doctor's care, not in place of it.
  • It promises no twenty years back. What small daily habits honestly give you is steadier legs, better nights, and a sharper morning — kept up, they compound.
  • It is not a fitness program. No gym, no equipment, no getting down on the floor. If you want workout charts and heart-rate zones, this is the wrong book.
  • It is plain on purpose. Written the way a neighbor talks across the kitchen table, in large print. No jargon, no biohacks, no fear.
  • It works if you do a little, often. One small habit at a time is the whole method. That is why it sticks where big overhauls fail.

Written for a particular reader

This book is for you if

  • You are 60 or older, or you love someone who is, and you want these years to feel good.
  • You want to stay sharp, steady, and in your own home, on your own terms.
  • Big programs never stuck, and you would rather change one small thing at a time.
  • Your doctor says walk more, sleep better, keep your mind busy — and nobody ever showed you how, plainly.
  • You like plain words and large print, not jargon and charts.

It is not for you if

  • You are looking for medical advice, a diagnosis, or a cure. That is your doctor’s chair, not mine.
  • You want a fitness program, supplements, or a thirty-day transformation.
  • You want the science argued in detail, with charts and citations.
  • You would rather overhaul everything at once than change one ordinary Tuesday at a time.

Questions, answered plainly

Can I read it on my phone or tablet?

Yes. You get two versions of the book: an EPUB that reads beautifully on a phone, a tablet, or a Kindle, where you can make the type as large as you please, and a PDF for the computer that prints clean on paper too.

I'm not much for computers. Is it hard to get?

No. After you pay, the download link appears right away and also comes to your email. One click and it is yours to keep.

Is the print really large?

Yes. It is set in large, high-contrast type made for older eyes, with generous spacing.

Is this medical advice?

No. It is habits and lifestyle, from a lifetime of watching, not from a clinic. Please talk to your own doctor about anything to do with your health or your medicines.

Can my spouse or family read it too?

Yes, it is yours to keep and share within your household.

What if it is not for me?

Then you send one email within 7 days and get every dollar back, and you keep everything.

What exactly arrives after I buy?

Two book files and the four printable companions, on the very next screen and in your email. The EPUB is for phones, tablets, and Kindle. The PDF is for the computer, or for printing. Nothing ships in the mail, and there is nothing more to buy.

Is checkout secure?

Yes. Checkout is handled by Gumroad, the store that hosts this book, with the same card protections as any large shop. I never see your card number, and there is no subscription to cancel.
